Gun Control

I wanted to re-share a comment I wrote on a buds fb post. Here it is, hope it helps encourage.

That is a timely word brother.  Gun control is not an issue of violence, it is an issue of world view.  It is a battle between those who believe that man is born good, pure, and knows no wrong.  It is the outside influences that corrupt him and he must look within to find truth and freedom from a corrupt world.

However, the other side (and might I add the Biblical worldveiw) claims that man is "born in sin" (Psalm 51) and is wicked and desperately sick at heart.  The problem lies within, and the solution comes not from within us but from outside of us.  "For God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son (Jesus) that who ever would believe in him would not perish but have eternal life."  The answer to what is wrong with us will never be found within us...

The media will, over the coming days,  analyze every inch of the shooters life and will ask, " What went wrong with this young man? What drove him to such great violence?"  They will blame everything from his parents, to friends, to video games, the list will not end.  And though those need considering, the message will not be said of him by the talking heads, "He had the condition that all men have and that is a sinful heart that desired harm to others. We are no different in our sinful hearts and if it were not for Gods grace we could be of the same heart and mind, ready to inflict harm at any instance.  Oh that we would seek the Lord and repent lest we fall to this same temptation."  That message will not be heard from the pulpit of the media...

Sorry to hijack the post, bro.

I just encourage all of us to realize we too could have been this young man and that we need our hearts changed not from looking inward for the answer but outward to Christ.
